About Me

As a trial lawyer, I am very proud of a case in which I represented an executive’s secretary and won a jury verdict of $780,000 for a torn rotator cuff. Another million dollar settlement was for a widow in a case where a yacht club sold liquor to an intoxicated patron, who thereafter caused a fatal accident. This one was a very difficult case to prove. But I believe that my experience as a deputy sheriff, my investigative abilities, my Christian faith and my “I will win no matter what” attitude are the factors that help me to win cases.

“One of the most interesting cases took place more then two decades ago, when I defended a man charged with murder. He was found not guilty, but there were always questions about his innocence. Almost 25 years later, the police showed up at my office wanting my transcripts of the preliminary hearing in the case. It turns out another man (serial killer, Trawick) recently confessed to the murder.”

Swatek, a committed Christian, is a member of the Birmingham, Shelby County, and Alabama Bar Associations, as well as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Shelby County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He is also the attorney for the Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs of Alabama, attorney for Aid to Injured Motorcyclists, and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Club (ministry) - The Soldiers of the Cross, and handles motorcycle accidents all over the state. A ‘rider’ himself, he has a strong bond with fellow ‘bikers’ who love to ride.
Swatek is proud of his two successful sons, Dax, who is a business and political consultant, and Chace who is an attorney, and his daughter Barret who is an actress in Los Angeles. He has been married to his wife, Lana Daniel Swatek for 39 years.
